Journal Publication:
- • JFSEL publishes thrice annually, without segregation between Korean and English issues.
- • Spring, fall, and winter issues are released on April 30th, September 30th, and December 31st, respectively.
Manuscript Submission:
- • The Editor-in-Chief oversees manuscript acceptance and review procedures.
- • Upon receipt, the Editor-in-Chief will report to the Editorial Board, form a review committee, and issue a "Paper Acceptance Certificate" or confirmation email to the submitter.
- • The Editor-in-Chief manages the Paper Review Status for each paper, which includes the contributor's personal information, paper review status, and follow-up management for publication.
Reviewer Selection:
- • The Editorial Board selects at least three expert reviewers for each submission.
- • Reviewers should not be affiliated with the submitter's institution.
- • If there are fewer than three suitable reviewers, the Editorial Director may recommend reviewers with a similar specialty.
- • The reviewers' expertise, research contributions, objective evaluation attitudes, and review experience are considered for an impartial and reasonable assessment.
The review process involves judges providing detailed evaluation scores based on criteria such as originality, research method validity, logical development, academic contribution, formal completeness, and resource accuracy. Comprehensive evaluation scores are then grouped into four grades:
- • 90 points or more: Accept
- • 80~89 points: Accept after revision
- • Total score 70~79: Re-assessment after revision
- • Total score less than 70: Rejected
"Accept after revision" means the paper can be published in the current issue after minor to moderate revision. "Re-assessment after revision" is for papers requiring significant revisions, which will be re-reviewed in the future issue, or in the current issue if sufficient time is available.
Reviewers must provide detailed revisions according to the article review criteria and use the provided review form. Upon completion of the review by three reviewers, the Editor-in-Chief will decide whether to publish the article based on the reviews. Only papers judged as "Accept" by at least two of the three reviewers are eligible for publication, or "Accept after revision."
If a reviewer requests a revision or re-review of an article, the Editor-in-Chief will send the review comments of the three reviewers with the request for revision to the contributor. If there are two or more co-authors, the Editor-in-Chief will send the original paper to the first author and request revisions.
The Editor-in-Chief will convene the Editorial Board to review the report and decide whether to publish the article. The submitter will be notified of the Editorial Board's decision on the article. If the submitter disagrees with the decision, they may appeal in writing within five days from the date of notification of the review result. Upon receipt of the appeal, the Editor-in-Chief will convene an editorial board meeting to deliberate on the appeal and notify the submitter of the result and follow-up.
If the revised manuscript is not submitted for the next issue after the "Re-assessment after revision" decision, it will be rejected.
